August 10th at John Brown Park

John Brown Park

We decided to relocate 2 blocks south of our usual downtown Humboldt location at the Parley Finch Plaza to John Brown Park for our August 10th market. There's been construction going on to resurface the Sumner Avenue road. We could not have had a more beautiful morning! It was almost a chilly morning and barely reached 70° by noon when our market ended; far from a "normal" day in August. Being at John Brown Park under the large trees was kind of magical!

Last year, we had a slower market during the Iowa State Fair, so we weren't expecting crowds of people. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who stopped by on Saturday! Usually, it seems like the first half is busier than the last half. Not this time! It seemed like we had a steady stream of people walking through the market the entire time.

The ISU Extension Conservation Station trailer set up on the northwest corner of the block. They had a couple interactive learning stations geared towards kids, but perfect for anyone of all ages to learn the power of water and how we can combat erosion. It was awesome to have them at our market! Every time I looked their way, there was a new group of people.

In order to add a little more fun to the mix we had free will donation root beer floats! For those new to our market, Sammi Pals and myself (Kelsey Flot) are the organizers of the market and we also are vendors with our home bakery business, Three Rivers Kringla. We always have a donation box for the Humboldt Farmer's Market at our table. Anything we do at the market to raise a little money is always located at or directly next to the Three Rivers Kringla table/canopy. Any money raised goes directly back to keep our market going and growing!

We had a great group of vendors lined up along the northwest sidewalk. It looks like we had exactly 20 vendors this week! There was a little bit of produce, fresh eggs, baked goods, lavender, books, resin goods, tumblers, cups, clothes, yarn, crystals, crocheted goods, and candles. Did I miss something? Probably. Good thing I took photos!

Like I said earlier, it was the most beautiful day. I'm not sure if it was the weather or location, but it was the most peaceful Humboldt Farmer's Market yet! We all heard the compliments from the market-goers on the location. A few even wanted us to keep it at John Brown Park permanently. We'll for sure be back at John Brown Park for our next market on August 24th, but Sammi and I haven't made any decisions on moving our market location permanently. As of right now, we're just down there during the construction on Sumner Ave. is going on.

We had such a great time last Saturday at John Brown Park that we'll be there again NEXT Saturday, August 24th!

our next market August 24th

It's going to be a fun market! It's the beginning of the new school year. I/2View Photo&Design will be hosting a back to school photo booth for kids of all ages, even kids at heart! I'll have a variety of props to choose from. Follow us on Facebook for details.

Until then stay safe, be kind and we'll talk soon!
