F.U.E.L. Drive at the Humboldt Farmer's Market

Last Saturday, August 26th, Humboldt Farmer's Market felt like a beautiful fall day. It threw all of us off after the horrendous heat we all had to endure earlier in the week.

With the new school year starting back up we wanted to have a food drive for the F.U.E.L. (Food Uplifting Essentials Learning) program at the Humboldt Community Schools. The program is a school food pantry that assists students and families in need. We recently learned about F.U.E.L. and the impact it has on children in our community. It was a no brainer decision to take the opportunity to spread the word about it at the Farmer's Market and collect non-perishable food donations.

It's impressive how much we collected. Sammi took a photo of all of it put together (above photo). Thank you to everyone who donated! I was very impressed with how much we got. It was the perfect weather for a Farmer's Market, but it was a slower, more relaxed crowd this time. Gilmore City Fun Days was going on a town over, the heat rescheduled a cross country meet for Saturday, football started, and I'm sure more things were going on.

That being said, all of our vendors were happy with how things went. We caught a few people at our table saying they made a point to come down in-between kid activities they had going on. It's amazing to me that even if people don't have time to peruse too much they'll come down and support their favorite vendors!

The amount of vendors we have has been growing! A couple couldn't make it last minute this week, but we still had an impressive number for our little Farmer's Market. All season we've had vendors set up East to West on the North sidewalk around the statue. This week we changed it up and had vendors set up in the plaza! The East side of the sidewalk stayed set up the same since those businesses aren't open on Saturday morning.

Bee'n Crafty was a vendor, but she was also hosting the kid's activity! They were crafting fun little monster bookmarks for $1. It's been so awesome to have different people and organizations come forward wanting to host the kid's activities!

card making classes sign

Louise of Uptown Humboldt Mercantile always sets up in front of her storefront (first store East of the statue). She usually doesn't want me to take photos of her set up, but this week I saw this sign at her table for card making classes and took the photo anyway. If you're interested in that we can get you in touch or come to the next Humboldt Farmer's Market (Sept 9th) and talk to Louise!

There's only 3 more Humboldt Farmer's Markets left in the 2023 season. Next Farmer's Market is September 9th! We're celebrating the start of FALL with Apple/Honey Fest! *insert excited shriek* We'll have a caramel apple bar, honey/bee themed craft, AND a CyHawk raffle! We'll have all the details on our Facebook page soon! It's going to be a fun one!

If you'd like to become a vendor click here or email us at HumboldtFarmersMarket@gmail.com!

Until then stay safe, be kind and we'll talk soon!
