Wow, wow, wow! On Saturday, October 7th we had the very last Humboldt Farmer's Market for the 2023 season! Can you believe it? We had a chilly, beautiful fall morning! It was a peaceful start to the market, but once the Sun came out and thawed people out they trickled downtown.
This time we had a sourdough starter demo going on hosted by Dibble & Bloom and Iowa Family Gardening Homestead! A huge feat to do at a farmer's market and Kelsey Wigans (of Iowa Family Gardening Homestead) NAILED IT! She made waffles, tortillas, and english muffins with sourdough starter! It was an awesome crash course of what to do with sourdough starter. I know a lot of people (me included) are overwhelmed to dive into the world of sourdough and this demo was the perfect introduction! There was even sourdough starter for purchase and a drawing to win a glass crock.
The Humboldt Library was also out with us hosting the kids craft this week! They had a cute Halloween craft. Kids made little ghost buddies in a window frame! I always love the crafts the Library comes up with! They're always so cute and unique.
Of course, we had our awesome vendors to shop from. There was a lot of produce at the last market, which we love to see! Once again we had vendors on the sidewalk and in the plaza.

Oops, I realized while looking through photos I forgot to take close up photos of Three Rivers Kringla (baked goods) and 2View Photo&Design (art prints, stickers, & stationery). I forgive myself...hopefully, Sammi does, too!😉
This was our first Humboldt Farmer's Market season under our direction. Sammi and I (Kelsey) can't believe how amazing of a first season we had. We've learned a lot and are both insanely grateful for everyone who's come down, spread the word, and had nice words to say. The support from our community is what makes all the work we put into our farmer's market worth it!
We (Kelsey Flot & Sammi Pals) will be organizing the Humboldt Farmer's Market again for the 2024 season! We've seen the market come a long ways in a short amount of time, and we have no plan to stop anytime soon. We think our community and local businesses benefit greatly from this farmer's market. We learned a lot this year and know there's more to learn next year. Each year will only get better and better so long as we continue to have your support!
Speaking of support, it is unfortunately not free to advertise or put on certain events so if you or anyone you know would like to be a sponsor for next year email us at HumboldtFarmersMarket@gmail.com.
If you want to become a vendor next year you can email us to get on the email list. The vendor link is closed at this time for us to refine/add some things. We'll post about it here and on our social media pages; Facebook & Instagram @HumboldtIAFarmersMarket.
Again, thank you!! We will still be posting every so often and maybe even a few blogs! We hope everyone has had a great year and continues to do so. Have a safe holiday season, a restful winter, and we'll see you again next spring!
